DIY Chocolate PB Cups

Making homemade things is definitely my love language! This is such an easy recipe + doesn't take much time or "baking experience". We, especially me, have a huge sweet tooth. I would be in big trouble if I gave in everyday, so I always love trying to make treats a little bit healthier. Hope you enjoy this yummy recipe as much as my family does!

1/2 cup homemade peanut butter (

2 tablespoons coconut flour

2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey

A dash of vanilla

1 + 1/2 cups dark chocolate

sprinkle of sea salt (optional)

*Don't be afraid to break the rules + use less or more of these ingredients. I am the worst about measuring + if the consistency isn't right just add more is my motto!

The first thing I do is gather everything I will need for this recipe, because with a toddler helping it's easy for things to get left out.  It helps keep me organized + on track! Next, I line my mini cupcake sheet with mini cupcake papers. Then, I mix all my ingredients together minus the chocolate + sea salt. After everything is mixed I put my chocolate in a glass bowl + melt it in the microwave. Every 20 seconds I take my chocolate out + stir it to make sure I don't burn it.  If I need to melt more chocolate I always grab a new glass bowl, more dishes in the long run, but I hate wasting chocolate!

Once my chocolate is melted I take a spoon and pour a little bit at the bottom of each mini cupcake liner. I normally start with 12 liners just to be safe, but always end up doing more after. Once the chocolate is on the bottom of the cupcake papers, I roll my pb balls. You can make them as small or big as you want! Obviously the bigger the ball the less completed bites you'll have! Zach prefers more chocolate to pb balls so I normally have enough to make 20 bites total. After you place a pb ball in each cupcake wrapper take your melted chocolate + pour it on top. While the chocolate is still warm I sprinkle my sea salt so it sticks to each bite. This part is a total preference, some people aren't salt fans so feel free to leave it off!

As always heres my cute sous chef. Sometimes we worry he'll grow up + run away to a nudist colony...

DIY Body Lotion With Essential Oils

  1. 1 cup unrefined shea butter (mountain rose herbs)

  2. 1 cup coconut oil

  3. 30+ drops of whatever essential oils you want!

I heat my shea butter + coconut oil in the microwave. I try not to completely melt it, but sometimes it happens. I combine it in the mixing bowl + mix it for 7-10 minutes. You don’t want any lumps. If you melted it too much + its like liquid soup while mixing put it in the fridge for 10-20 minutes. Then take it out + start mixing again. You want it super fluffy. Once it is fluffy add in your eo’s then mix for another 3 minutes. My favorite brand of essential oils are Young Living + Mountain Rose Herbs. If you ever have any questions about a certain eo just message me! I'm always learning, but if I don’t know the answer I will point you in the right direction. If you want to set up an account with Young Living message me. I can tell you how you can get your favorite oils at a discounted rate! This time I used..

*10 drops of Lavender (Young Living) best for relaxation + it smells AMAZING. I love diffusing it before bedtime to help us relax.

*15 drops of Stress Away (Young Living). This is my GO TO BLEND with my crazy kiddos, if my husband comes home + he smells this blend diffusing in the house he knows it has been a stressful day with the kids HAHA (the blend is: copaiba, lime, cedarwood, vanilla, ocotea, + lavender).

*5 drops of Thieves (Young Living). It is a blend of Clove, Lemon, Rosemary, Cinnamon, + Eucalyptus. In sickness season this is my go to blend to help boost our immune system! I love diffusing these + putting it in our lotion.

*5 drops of Ylang Ylang (Now) has many different uses but my massage therapist ( always used this on anything that was sore during massages! So I always add some in there. It does have somewhat of a strong ordor. I love it, but Zach isn’t a huge fan. So I only put a little bit in there.

(Please note: EO’s are amazing + I 100% support them, but I always ask that everyone does their own research when it comes to using EO’s around kids + pets.. There are some essential oils you want to wait till kids are older + some that are unsafe for cats + dogs! They have MANY health + wellness benefits, I just always tend to stay on the safe side! I never recommend ingesting oils unless you have been in contact with an aromatherapist! Also always use a carrier oil when putting on skin (my go to carrier oil is coconut oil mixed with whatever EO you want))

This is my favorite lotion to make. It is super easy + I never do the same scent! You could totally do the same scent every time; I just like switching it up. Everyone always asks me if this lotion is super oily since it has coconut oil in it, the answer is yes (kinda). I use a hand scrape amount + lather it in-between my hands to heat it up then I rub it on whatever area. It seems super oily at first, but then it soaks into your skin! Always start with a small amount + you can add more. I tend to need more in the winter than in the summer. I’ve also had people ask me if I put this on my face, the answer is no (kinda). My face is super oily so I put on a light daily moisturizer. In the winter if I’m SUPER dry I will apply a small amount at night after I’ve taken my makeup off. I wouldn’t recommend putting it on before makeup unless you’re super dry! I will put it on my face if I’ve gotten a sunburn, it helps me for that! These specific ingredients made 4 jars (I think 6oz jars) You can customize the oils to whatever you want. Feel free to get creative! People ask me why I choose to make my own lotion + my answer is simple. I love making things, plus there is a lot of chemicals + fragrances in many lotions on the market. Our skin is the largest organ we have so anything we put on our skin is absorbed! Of course there are clean lotions on the market, but I also have fun making my own!

If you’ve ever wondered about the ingredients in your household/beauty products I encourage you to download the app ‘Think Dirty’. It is one of my favorite resources. You scan any barcode or type it in + it goes in depth about the ingredients good + bad and gives it a “clean” rating! Go put everything in the app + I think you'll be shocked what score your everyday products get!

Hope you enjoyed this post! Make sure to subscribe; my next DIY recipe will be shaving cream!

DIY Coffee Body Scrub

This is one of my favorite body scrubs, because I LOVE the smell of coffee + it exfoliates my skin so good! It is seriously SO easy to make – hope you enjoy!

1-cup coffee grinds

1-cup raw brown sugar

½ -cup coconut oil

My in-laws always stock up Community Coffee Mardi-Gras King Cake for me because I’ve never been able to find any in Arkansas! I used it this time in the coffee scrub because it smells so amazing! It says it has hints of Cinnamon & Vanilla so I’m sure if you have regular coffee you could totally throw in vanilla + cinnamon and call it a day! This recipe is literally as easy as it sounds – mix all three ingredients together!

I do soften my coconut oil if it’s harder, (normally my house is chilly) BUT you don’t want your coconut oil to be hot because it could melt your raw sugar. So I warm it in the microwave, stir it around, + let it cool down before pouring in my mix. The reason you don’t want to melt your brown sugar is because that is what actually exfoliates your skin! Sometimes if I’m lazy + don’t have anything made I will just use plain raw brown sugar to exfoliate my body! The grittiness of the sugar works so well! Once everything is mixed together put it in a glass jar to store it! This specific batch made 4 4oz jars, perfect to make some for yourself + gifts or if you’re lazy like me + hate dirtying dishes I store some for later use!

My husband asked me why “exfoliating” is important. Instead of telling him, I googled it to give him a good answer so he doesn’t think I’m just making it up! Ha, does anyone else’s husband think they do unnecessary ‘beauty’ steps?! Anyways, this is what google said:

“Proper exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells below. This opens the way for moisturizing products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, which makes them most effective. In short, a regular exfoliating (not daily though) routine will leave your skin looking fresh and healthy”

If your skin is normal-combination you can exfoliate 2-3 times a week. I have sensitive skin so I exfoliate every 7-10 days. Over-exfoliating can really hurt your skin so just play around with it. It’s a really good tool to incorporate in your routine, but don’t do it too often!

Make sure you subscribe so you can stay up to date on all the future recipes! Up next I will be doing my favorite lotion with essential oils!
